Lepidodgera 2008 begins
Published March 3rd, 2008 in PlanningThis is the new Lepidodgera website. Lepidodgera is an expansive kinetic artpiece that interacts with participants through sound, light, kinematic motion, tactile sensation and heat. A 37-foot-tall butterfly, Lepidodgera draws you in with intriguing sounds and colorful patterns washed across its 1200 square feet of wing. It then engages you in a process of discovery as you realize the food to make it live and inspiration to make it beautiful must come from you.
Much more is to come for this site in the next week, including detailed schedule for March and April, new up-to-date design details, Gasifier discussion board and more.
If this is your first time visiting us, please see our proposal to learn what we’re all about.

i just read about your project on jackrabbit speaks bulletin…i am really impressed with your idea(s) and the technology involved…i am going to bookmark your website so i can return to get updates….this will be my partner, sam, and my eleventh burn and we have previously been actively involved with some big camps (the best was the Glom from ‘02-’04 with the chairway to heaven, Gasso orgasmatron and spanking machine, and others) and have had a small, but very fun, personal camp called Salon du Buttcrack where we painted images on peoples butt and then pressed it onto art paper for framing back home (we have a guestbook of over 400 people who we have decorated)….anyway, we live in the southbay and, although we are not in a position to be actively volunteering due to work obligations (ugh), we would be open to assisting on an intermittent level if you need some temporary manpower ….perhaps we could make a project visit at some later point to at least cheer you folks on….it is a great idea and i look forward to seeing it and dumping trash in it on the playa this year….thanks, russ.
YAY! It is great to see a butterfly come to the Playa! That was an idea we batted around and we thought it really has potential. Coool.
